UJ-Connect Alumni: Where Is Your Business Now?

About 6 minutes

UJ-Connect is closing in 2027, and we are writing the final report to JICA and the Government of Uganda on what the programme actually produced. That report is only as good as what alumni tell us.

Please answer as accurately as you can. Rough numbers are fine, and honest bad news is just as useful to us as good news. If your business slowed down, paused or closed, we especially want to hear from you, because that is the part these reports usually get wrong.

Once you submit, Joshua Pi'Rwot will call you for 5 to 7 minutes to go through it with you. Nothing long.

1. You and the business

2. Where the business stands today

3. Revenue

Compared with when you finished the programme.

A band is fine. We never publish an individual figure.

4. Jobs

People the business pays right now. Put 0 where it does not apply.

Full time, on payroll Part time or casual On commission or contract

Your best estimate is fine, and 0 is a perfectly good answer. This single number is the one JICA reads as the real measure of whether the business stands on its own, so please do not skip it.

5. Money in

Grant, loan, equity, a competition prize, anything.

6. Reach

A customer, a supplier, a partner, an investor, an introduction that went somewhere. UJ-Connect is a Uganda and Japan programme, so this one matters to us more than it looks.

7. What has changed

A new product, a new market, a change of direction, a co-founder in or out.

8. How the business makes money

Who pays you, for what, and how often.

9. UJ-Connect itself

Not the nicest thing. The one you actually still use. If the honest answer is nothing, say nothing.

10. If the business paused or closed

This section only appears because of your answer in section 2. There is no wrong answer here and nothing is held against you.

11. Permission, and your call

Your answers go to the AVODA team working on UJ-Connect Output 4. Individual revenue figures are never published; they are reported only as part of a total. AVODA Institute of Entrepreneurship for Africa, for the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, UICT and JICA.
