MTIC Acceleration Program Alumni: Where Is Your Company Now?

About 7 minutes

The JICA-supported phase of the MTIC Acceleration Program closes this month. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives wants an up-to-date picture of where its 30 alumni are now, to report to Government and JICA, and to decide where it can help you next: investor introductions, government procurement, export and Japan linkages, and showcase slots such as Innovation Week in November.

Rough numbers are fine, and bands are enough wherever we ask for money. Individual figures are never published; they are reported only inside totals. If things have been hard, that is just as useful to hear.

1. You and the company

2. Your company in one line

3. Where the company stands today

4. Revenue

Compared with when the program ended (Feb 2025 for Cohort 1, Feb 2026 for Cohorts 2 and 3).

5. Traction

The one you would put on a pitch slide. For example: "4,200 batteries restored by Sep 2026" or "120 SACCOs live".

A contract, a market, a product, an award, a partner.

6. Jobs

People working for the company right now. Put 0 where it does not apply. This is the section the Ministry asked about most: how many jobs are formal, and how many are informal or network roles.

Full-time staff of whom registered with NSSF Part-time or casual staff Contract, commission or network workers (agents, technicians, collectors) Of all the above: women Of all the above: under 35

Your best estimate. 0 is a valid answer. This is the number that shows whether the jobs will last.

7. Capital

8. Partners and markets

A customer, supplier, partner, investor or an introduction that is going somewhere. This program was supported by JICA, so this matters.

9. The program, and what MTIC can do next

Not the nicest thing. The one you actually still use. "Nothing" is a valid answer.

If the company paused, closed or was sold

There is no wrong answer here and nothing is held against you.

10. Permission

Your answers go to the JICA Taskforce team (AVODA) supporting the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. Individual revenue and capital figures are never published; they are reported only inside totals. AVODA Institute of Entrepreneurship for Africa, for MTIC and JICA.
